What a dire game though. No dire doesn’t even begin to describe this one, suicidaly depressing is a little more accurate.
I settled down to watch a bit of Championship footy this afternoon. Sunderland v West Brom - it’s got the makings of a good game I thought to myself. On paper the Baggies have unquestionably got the credentials to produce some lovely football. Their starting eleven was packed full of experienced, Premiership quality players. Sunderland on the other hand had just lost five in a row. There good only be one outcome. How wrong I was!
What a dire game though. No dire doesn’t even begin to describe this one, suicidaly depressing is a little more accurate. Personally I feel quite a balanced individual but after watching this dross I felt like jumping off the top of a large building. What’s the point anymore. Soulless atmosphere, no passing football and lots of diving and cheating. If only there was a little bit of trickery maybe that would have lightened the mood, but in all honesty I’ve been more entertained by the Richard & Judy show, which is really saying something, because apart from Maggie Thatcher and maybe Graham Souness, there aren’t maybe people I hate more than Richard Madeley.
I thought maybe Little Chappy Richard Chaplow might be a bit of a bright spark but even he looks like he’s gone backwards under Bryan Robson’s uninspired leadership. Still at least there were two goals, which gives something for the presenters on Sky Sports to talk about for the next six hours.
I’m just off to cut my own head off, then sit in a bath of acid…all the best!
